Kleine Rust Pinotage Shiraz and Kleine Rust Chenin in a Pine Wine Box

£36.45

An easy-drinking red wine with ripe red fruit flavours. It has a smooth texture and a fruity finish.Ripe raspberries and some pepper spice on the nose. The palate is soft, sumptuous, juicy and round with elegant tannins and lots of berry fruit. Stellenrust bottled its first wine on the farm in 1928. Today the winery is run by the brothers Tertius (winemaker) and Kobus (viticulturist), and is one of the largest family-run Fairtrade estates in Stellenbosch, with 500 hectares of land under vine. The brothers are committed to following their father’s dream: to give back to the workers, who themselves had given so much to the farm. Stellenrust now boasts one of the biggest and most successful Black Economic Empowerment projects in South Africa. The project has resulted in seventy employees taking ownership of the land they farm. Tertius himself puts it more eloquently: ‘These are the men and women we grew up with, we played together when we were young and now we work together towards the same dream and goal. The Chenin on the nose, one can pick up subtle honeycomb flavours derived from a section of botrytised fruit used in the wine. It shows luscious ripe tropical fruit and some green grass on the nose carried through onto the palate with a lingering aftertaste of grapefruit and a zesty acidity. Presented in a lovely Pine Case
