Description

Authentic, richly flavoured and well-priced Amarone. Ripe, warm and generous on the nose with plum and cherry aromas and hints of dried fruits. Full bodied and richly flavoured with rich berry and plum fruit, supple tannins and a spicy finish, with the characteristic dry bite of good Amarone. A balanced and very approachable style. This long established Veronese family company, headed by Giorgio Montresor, is producing wines which increasingly rival the offerings of the region’s more fashionable names. The estate wines, from 100 ha of vineyards in Valpolicella and Garda, offer remarkable value for money, particularly the Capitel della Crosara vineyard near Negrar which produces fine, richly-flavoured Ripasso and a generous, classically-styled Amarone with great concentration and texture. Made from a blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes. The grapes are hand harvested at the end of October. The late harvested grapes are dried for four months (until January following the vintage) and then crushed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel for four months followed by maturation in Slavonian oak casks and small barrels for 2 years. Food Recommendations:- Perfect with mature hard cheeses and blue cheeses. Also excellent with game and mature beef.
