The wines selected are:- Réserve du Couvent A medium to full-bodies wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. Aged in oak for six months, it is beautifully structured, with a nose of smoked fruits and vanilla. In the mouth, peppers, plums and berries abound. It has excellent length. Oak-aged, it can be easily kept for five years. Excellent served with red meat and game. Blanc De L’Observatoire. This light and fruity wine is made from Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat and Clairette. This wine seduces with its finesse, elegance and floral aroma. On the palate it is soft, fresh and long lasting. The Sauvignon gives this wine its finesse and elegance. The Muscat its subtle flowery aroma and the Clairette its fruitiness roundness’ and rich taste. Lebanese wine tradition dates back 5,000 years, when the ancient inhabitants of Lebanon, the Phoenicians, first began tending vineyards. The Phoenicians exported wine to ancient Egypt, Rome, Greece and Carthage; introducing the world to viticulture and oenology. Lebanon is also said to be the place where Jesus performed the miracle of turning water into wine. Chateau Ksara has preserved Lebanon’s rich wine making heritage for over 150 years, laying down the foundation for Lebanon’s modern wine making industry. Founded in 1857 by Jesuit Priests who produced the country’s first dry red wine, Chateau Ksara is Lebanon’s oldest winery. Reserve du Couvent has complex aromas of cloves, vanilla and mulberry. On the palate it shows an abundance of blueberry fruit with supple tannins giving it length and persistence on the palate. Superbly balanced, this dark ruby wine, from Syrah, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet-Sauvignon, combines elegance with a lingering delicacy. Cultivated in oaken casks, it can be easily kept for 3 to 5 years and goes perfectly with roasted or grilled red meat and game. Blanc de L’Observatoire seduces with its finesse, elegance and floral aroma. On the palate, it is soft, fresh and long lasting. Drink chilled while still young and fresh with Lebanese Mezze, grilled sea fish and vegetarian dishes.
