Displaying tropical fruits and citrus aromas on the nose, the wine then offers a delicate elegance and structure on the palate, culminating in a lingering finish The Character Series is a highly distinctive, collection of expressive, authentic wines from premium regions of Australia. Guaranteed to be hugely entertaining, humorous and personal, this range of varietals typifies the non-pompus approach to winemaking in Oz. The 2011 vintage in Adelaide was one of the coolest growing seasons on record with abundant rainfall in February and March – the critical months for ripening. The high quartz content and naturally low fertility of the soils allowed for excellent water drainage and moderate canopy growth in our vineyards. Wines from this season show genuine ripe fruit characters that will have excellent aging potential. Soil is high coastline schist. Vine are planted at 550m and south – south east facing. Grapes were machine harvested in late March. Both the Riesling and Sauvignon grapes were brought separately into the winery and crushed. Fermentation took place in large steel tanks. The wines are blended together once fermentation finished. Food Recommendations:- Oysters or shellfish but equally good with Thai style salads.
