Fresh, juicy, unoaked Sangiovese from this excellent Montepulciano estate. A hint of sweet fruit develops into a medium to full-bodied palate with supple tannins and juicy fruit balanced by warm spice and pepper notes on the finish. Tenute Toscane is part of the wine family of Baroncini, incorporting a number of estates such as Il Faggeto and Torre Terza in different parts of Tuscany, and overseen by Bruna Baroncini. Baroncini have over five centuries of wine-making history, and are an excellent source of well-presented and authentic classics from ‘middle Italy’. The Sangiovese vines are planted on clay soils with traces of limestone, at 400 m altitude. The climate is mild with cold winters and warm summers, with showers concentrated in autumn and spring. After hand-harvesting of the grapes, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 25°C for about 10 days. Medium maceration on the skins. Malolactic fermentation in steel vats. Food Recommendations:- The pepper and spice balance perfectly with roast beef, salami, pepperoni and richly-flavoured risottos.
